SAMIC has rooted from a small local NGO based rural solidarity village banking program. CHC-NGO has very actively worked at the grass-root level and poverty was very obvious by then. The solidarity village banking program was established to tackle the dire poverty among poor rural community members in year 1994 up to middle of 2005. Due to request from donor (Oxfam America) and due to requirement from the NBC, the CHC-NGO solidarity village banking program was transformed into MFI first time by July 2005. CHC-Limited started with technical support from Dr. Aris Alip of CARD Bank in Philippines and later on became active shareholder. Because of CARD Bank, CMI through ASA from Bangladesh (one of the biggest MFI in the world) became another one of our important shareholders.
Samic Ltd. grown up under the name of CHC-Limited from very small paid up capital as of USD$65,000 in year 2005 and by year 2007 we had increased our paid up capital to USD$600,000. Our historic original philosophy we stance for is: to work with the poor and help the poor to get access to resources for poverty alleviation, we sacrificed a lot and also faced great challenges during our transformation. By year 2005, we only got break event point for our earning income. The year 2006 had brought us little incomes (USD$19,429) but year 2007 we earned 5.5 times greater than 2006 ,and year 2008 earned 2.2 times greater than 2007 profit was made. Demonstrates its growing pace as given above Samic has indicated that it went very smoothly even though world financial markets have gone into deep crisis. However, the Board of Directors has regularly met and discussed relevant issues to advice Samic’ leadership about some special precaution measures. We plan to increase our paid up capital up to USD$1,300,000.00 by middle year of 2009. The Board of Directors of Samic, I would like to express their appreciation to all shareholders and lenders who have demonstrated a very strong commitment to the wellbeing and steady growing of Samic for the year of 2008. Our development has all to do with their trusts and confident. Our appreciation to the leadership of Samic, I truly believe that their works are very important.
